You won’t be disappointed to dine at Georgia’s Taverna! One of many family owned and operated restaurants in Crete, Georgia herself sat with us as a warm welcome, and to help walk us through the menu (she afforded all guests this hospitality during our visit). She is a warm and loving host, and was truly happy to meet us. Georgia remarked that giving us a wonderful experience was important to her, not just because we were paying customers, but because we were regarded as her family during the meal. We ordered appetizers to share and were very impressed by the generous portions of all homemade dishes - cabbage rolls, zucchini cakes, Gruyère, bread and tzatziki with authentic lemonade. The outdoor seating area was beautiful, surrounded by trees, flowers and decor. We needed to rush out to make it to our wine tour but Georgia’s children (also working as restaurant) insisted that we taste their cookies and Raki on the way out.
This restaurant was recommended by a local friend as we wanted to have local Greek meal in the mountains. We combined this restaurant with a visit to the Botanical Garden. The food (lamb, pork & goat), service and prices are good. We received cake with nuts for dessert. Highly recommended!
Excelent service. Very friendly staff and the food was beyond incredible! In 8 days in Crete this was the best Taverna we have ever been to.Bonus Points: They have a play area for the kids and a little toilet.I would rate higher if I could.
When you head abit off the beaten tracks, you can get a very warm and welcoming service. This was definitely one of them. The host and staff were generous and took time and care to recommend and make suggestions despite there being many tables. Dishes had a homey touch to them. Toasted free bread served. Snails with a touch of cinnamon was definitely interesting. Loved their house salad, homemade dessert and cookies served on the house.
Lake is beautiful, but this tavern is a gem of its own. Flawless and the best aubergine salat I have eaten so far. I recommend to just ask service what they have today and tell the service your allergies and let them do their magic.
We were impressed by this restaurant as the service and food were impeccable! They didn't have a spaghetti in the menu, but they did some magic in the kitchen and brought delicious spaghetti for our 2,5 years old daughter. There is a playground in the garden, so you can eat and watch over the children. High chairs are available. In the toilet was even little toilet for children and there was a diaper changer. The food was amazing. You must try the fried potatoes! This is great place to eat after the day spent at the lake Kournas!
A real authentic place to eat. Friendly staff which took the time to explain the menu and made good suggestions. Aswell the starters as the main courses were simply delicious. The homemade baklava (made by the waiter’s sister) was amazing. To finish it all off we enjoyed the raki with a touch off the house (cinnamon and lime) and homemade cookies. A real loss if you pass and don’t stop there.
Fantastic homely foods made with love. I havent tasted anything like it. The hostess is so kind in explaining all her dishes and how she makes it. You can tell she really loves providing her food for everyone to taste. It is lovely, so authentic and delicious. Highly recommend.
